Keeping In Touch With Your Pet

It is always a worrying time when your pet is in hospital and we understand that you want to be kept regularly informed of your pet’s progress. We call you every morning to let you know how your pet was overnight and every evening to keep you up to date with their progress during that day. The nurses usually make these regular calls.

Your veterinary specialist will also keep in touch with you on a daily basis to keep you updated on your pet’s clinical progress and to consult with you before any new procedures are carried out. If you wish to contact NKR Veterinary Specialists at any time please ring 01634 66 66 55.

Our nurses are always on duty at the hospital, in fact the operating theatre may still be busy into the evening. We have dedicated night nurses, who do not sleep during their shift, to ensure your pet is cared for, treated and observed around the clock and of course, cuddled and stroked. The benefit to your pet is that their treatment can be tailored to their absolute needs and attention is available 24 hours a day. Such attention includes; giving medication, assessing and responding to pain relief requirements, taking measurements, for example blood pressure, or simply going out to the toilet, whether it is required at 3 o'clock in the afternoon or 3am in the morning.

Sometimes our patients may be in hospital for several days. Please do speak to a member of staff if you would like to arrange to visit your pet during this time. Many patients really benefit from being visited by their families, so we do encourage this. However in some circumstances it may not be beneficial and if this is the case then the specialist and nurse looking after your pet will discuss it with you; naturally, we would never prevent a visit taking place if that is your wish.
