John H. C. Hutt BVSc(Hons) BA(Open) CertVD MACVSc MRCVS

John graduated from the University of Queensland in 1988. He came to the UK in 1990 and worked in general practice for the next 11 years whilst developing his interest in veterinary dermatology. He was awarded the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Dermatology in 1997, and worked as clinical assistant in dermatology at the Animal Health Trust from 1998 to 2000. John is a past President of the British Veterinary Dermatology Study Group. John’s major interest is in the diagnosis and clinical management of atopic dermatitis in dogs and cats.

In 2006 John was admitted to membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists (MACVSc) by examination in small animal medicine, and he currently works alongside his colleagues in the internal medicine service; John has a particular interest in feline gastrointestinal disease.

During his time in general practice John developed a strong interest and competency in advanced veterinary dentistry and is also happy to see dental and oral surgery accessions. Outside of work John’s major interest lies in English Literature and in 2006 he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at the Open University.
