Karen Dunn BVSc (Hons) MRCVS
Karen Dunn graduated from the University of Queensland, Australia, in 1988. After 18 months in a small animal hospital with a busy dermatology referral service, in 1990 Karen moved to the U.K., and in 1996 completed a veterinary pathology residency programme at the Animal Health Trust. In 2001, after a 4 year study of canine brain tumours, she returned to diagnostic pathology, initially at Rest Associates, and later working independently as FOCUS-EyePathLab, pursuing her particular interest in ocular pathology; Karen also has a longstanding interest in dermatopathology. In addition to spending time in the USA with well known veterinary ocular pathologist, Professor Richard (Dick) Dubielzig at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, where Karen locumed for his busy eye pathology service in the Summer of 2006, Karen is also a member of the British Association of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (BrAVO), and regularly attends both British and European clinical Ophthalmology meetings; Karen works closely with our ophthalmology department and also those of other centres in Europe.
Karen's personal interests include photography, travelling to wild and remote places, and wildlife-watching (on land or sea!). She also enjoys reading, music, hiking and swimming, and has interests in architecture, geology, archeology and genealogy.
